The Athens Area Historical Society Museum needs your help!

We are opening the museum to individuals that would be interested in sharing Athens History with the community or our out-of-town visitors. We would like to share history on the items in the museum.

 

Please join us on Monday, May 22, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to noon;

Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.; or

Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

 

We invite you to the museum so that you can learn about some of the interesting information and artifacts we have available.

We are looking for individuals that are interested in Athens History.

 

Have you visited the museum before?

If not, why not take this opportunity to do so?

 

Are you interested in assisting with the organization of the museum?

 

Are you interested in hosting at the museum for two hours on

a Saturday during the summer?

 

Do you know about some of our past citizens or their contribution to Athens’ history? Do you know any history about SS Ware, El Dorado Greenfield, or Homer Stryker? Do you know about the Athens citizens who served in the various wars or military branches? Do you know how Wilson Park got that name? Do you know about the memorials around Athens and what they stand for? Did you know Athens had a hotel, an opera house, a mill, or a railroad?
