Each year the Society conducts two (2) main fundraisers events. A Hog Roast Party in July and the Annual Tombstone Tour and Town Tales event held on the fourth Saturday of September.  

 

Once the Greenfield House renovation is completed, many social events will be posted and held in this new venue throughout the year.

EVENTS IN 2023:

​

1. A Craft Show was held at the Greenfield House Community Center on May 19 & 20, 2023.

 

2. The Hog Roast Fundraiser and Silent Auction was held on July 7 & 8, 2023. We had music by the Fireflys. There was Penny Bingo. The Athens School Athletic Boosters held their Cornament (Corn Hole Tournament). The Athens Area Community Foundation inducted Lori Doubleday into their Hall of Fame. 

 

3. Annual Tombstone Tour & Town Tales was held Saturday, September 23, 2023. Tours were at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

4. Zombie 5K Race & Walk was held Saturday, October 7, 2023 starting and ending at the Greenfield House Community Center. The proceeds were split with the Athens Cross Country Team

5. An Autumn Craft Show at Greenfield House Community Center was held on October 20 & 21, 2023. 

​

6. Veteran's Dinner was held on November 10, 2023 at the Lighthouse of Athens. Any proceeds were equally split with the VFW. 

​

7. Victorian Christmas was held on December 2, 2023 at the Greenfield House Community Center.

​

8. The Santa Slaying murder mystery will be held on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. at the Greenfield House Community Center with the doors opening at 6:00 p.m. Please see the 12/31/2023 Murder Mystery page for more details.

Events held in 2022

 

1.   Hog Roast Party was held on July 22, 2022. The band CountyLine Band provided live music. It was very well attended. 

 

2. The Tombstone Tour and Town Tales date will be held September 24, 2022. There were shows at 3:00 p.m. and  5:00 p.m. 

 

3.  The Athens Greenfield House 5K Zombie Run & Walk on October 15, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. at the Athens Area Middle School.

 

4.  Classic Movie Nights at the Athens Quonset Hut Theater were: June 4, 2022 - On Golden Pond; June 18, 2022 - Casablanca; August 6, 2022 - Beach Blanket Bingo; August 20, 2022 - Breakfast at Tiffanys; and September 3, 2022 - Grease.  

 

Past Events in 2021:

The day before Homecoming, on Friday, July 16th, 2021, we had a Hog Roast Party along with an open house at The Greenfield House and our silent auction.

 

Unfortunately, the weather did not allow us to have live music.  The food was $10.00 a plate. In addition, a silent auction was held on July 16 and 17th to help in raising funds to complete the renovation of the Greenfield House. We were lucky to have the crowning of the Homecoming Queens for 2020 and 2021.  

 

On Saturday, July 17th, 2021, the Society was an active participant in the Homecoming celebration. Tours of the Museum and The Greenfield House were conducted.

 

On September 25, 2021, the Annual Tombstone Tour and Town Tales event was held.  This year ticket prices were $10.00 at the gate.

 

An Autumn Craft Show was held Friday, October 22, 2021 & Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Greenfield House. We had items to sell for fundraising.  There were fellow crafters at the event that were able to rent table space.
