ATHENS AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY

ENGRAVED PAVERS

The Athens Area Historical Society (AAHS) established a project to raise funds by selling high quality engraved pavers to built a courtyard next to its building and to renovate the interior of the building. This project essentially consisted of two (2) parts. The first part was to concentrate in selling pavers to build the courtyard. This part was named "Pave a Path to the Courtyard" and it was very successfully completed. The second initiative was named "Pave a Way to Finish Renovating Museum Building."

Both initiatives were highly successful resulting in in a beautiful courtyard and the complete renovation of the building. In the courtyard several hundred engraved pavers have been installed but over 100 blank pavers remain and are being sold for the continuing operation of the Society. Blank pavers will be replaced by engraved pavers as they are sold. Because of the high quality of the pavers and the engraving the Society has received numerous positive comments. The pavers are installed in a checkerboard layout in clusters of nine (9). The pavers not only serve as a beautiful walkway and patio in the courtyard, but also as a lasting legacy for donors who have shown their generosity in support of the Athens community.
